THALES has obtained the contract for the realization of the CANAC2 en-route control center OPS room and subcontracted Symbio to manufacture the consoles. The consoles and the OPS rooms had been designed by Symbio in 2003-2004 for Belgocontrol.

This new contract involved

  • The finalization of the console design, which we had thus designed ourselves during the study of the CANAC2 OPS room for Belgocontrol.
  • The manufacture and installation of 3 prototype consoles
  • The manufacture and installation of 73 production consoles
  • The manufacture and installation of 8 additional pieces of furniture, annexed to the consoles

The challenges

This was a large production run to be completed within a limited time frame. Our focus was particularly on the timely production of the 73 final consoles, quality control, installation and the associated logistics processes.

The results

The visuals below illustrate the different stages of the project from the fabrication of the first prototypes to the installation of the furniture for the whole room

Installation of the joists allowing the installation and fixing of the consoles on the false floor.

Manufacture of the different modules of the furniture and arc welding at the sheet metal workshop.

Modular elements of the consoles ready to be sent for painting and elements being processed at the paint shop

Assembly of the modules and installation of the consoles by Symbio's installation teams.

The operational room is gradually being built.

The operational room once completed and in operation.
