Denis Javaux, one of SYMBIO's directors, has been invited to give a keynote address at the ITEA & ARTEMIS Co-Summit in Stockholm, Sweden.
The title of the talk is "Joint Human-Machine Systems Design - An Information and Affect Design Endeavour". The talk explains that the design of human-machine interaction and cooperation has evolved through four stages: non human centered design, user interface design, assistant systems design, and joint human-machine system design.
The four stages have been historically focusing on information presentation & exchange between humans and systems, with the more recent complementary introduction of affects in user interface design (affective computing) and assistant systems design (still nascent in this domain).
The purpose of the talk is to stress the importance of affects and affective computing in the last stage of evolution: joint human-machine system design. Joint human-machine systems are complex human-machine systems made of multiple human and machine agents interacting and acting as a team.
