Symbio provides a range of services that are applicable to its entire range of products, whether discrete or integrated.

Requirements analysis: we carry out the requirements analysis relating to the design or the operational implementation of our products. We conduct analyses of the accessibility of equipment, of the interactions necessary for cooperation between operators, of movements and rearrangements, of situation awareness, of the functionalities expected from the systems, of the mental models necessary for the work being done by the operators or users, etc.

Design and specification: we design our products based on predetermined needs. We carry out this work either in a participative way, or else directly from our offices. We generally work according to a model-based design approach, in which we model spaces (such as control rooms), volumetric objects (such as consoles or appliances) and the interaction structures between operators (such as interaction graphs). 2D and 3D modelling tools are thus typically used, as much to support the models being established as to communicate with our clients and their user groups.

Predictive evaluation: we carry out the predictions on the operational qualities or performance of the design solutions being considered, using metrics or qualitative models. These predictions are carried out on the established models during the design and specification phase.

Design, manufacture and evaluation with mock-ups: certain design solutions can be evaluated using mock-ups. These mock-ups make is possible to realise anthropometric evaluations, physical ergonomic evaluations or simple operational evaluations. They also allow the analysis of certain technical challenges, before the manufacture of a prototype or the start-up of production.

Design, manufacture and evaluation with a prototype: certain design solutions can be evaluated with prototypes. This involves using a product form that is closer to the final product than the mock-up. These prototypes also make it possible to carry out anthropometric evaluations, physical ergonomic evaluations or complex operational evaluations, close to the experiences that will occur during utilisation. Finally, the prototypes make it possible to study and experiment with all of the technical concerns before starting up final production.

Manufacture, production and implementation of the final product: we manufacture the final products, by unit or in a series, based on previously-established models, with the help of our subcontractors and calling upon the leanest manufacturing techniques. In addition, we ourselves produce machine readable production files for our subcontractors (e.g. sheet metal manufacture).

We continually oversee the manufacturing process, which is either based on norms and standards or which is designed to meet the specific needs of the project.

The manufactured products are then delivered to the project site, and installed by our teams. The entire installation process is the subject of dedicated analyses (e.g. passageways on the site and in the buildings) as well as previously-specified installation procedures.

Training, operating procedures, working methods: we develop and implement training relating to our products, as well as to the operational procedures involving them. We can also define the work methods and instructions appropriate to their operational implementation.

Reporting systems: we develop and implement reporting systems for our products once they have been put into use. These aim to collect information on the operational experience with our products, whether positive or negative, in order to improve their integration in the environment, either through partial redesign or by modification of usage procedures, maintenance, work methods, etc.
